How long have you been shooting?
Well this is a great question. I started shooting for my high school newspaper and yearbook back in 1997. I think I joined the class because I liked a girl who also joined, but immediately turned my attention to photography. Experiencing life through the lens was a very eye-opening experience. I was able to access peoples’ emotions without them noticing me. I rediscovered my love of photography back in college as I took a film 101 and I loved the seeing my prints appear on paper.
How many photos do you take per shoot?
This will vary greatly on the length of a shoot. My belief is deliver the highest quality of photography products and services every time.
How would you describe your style?
I am greatly influenced by the Fashion Photography Industry and Fine Art Photography. Both of these industries strive to change the world and the way we perceive life. I want my photography to influence each of my clients lives and self-image in a positive way. I guess you can say my style is to make my clients see themselves in a way they never viewed before.
How long will it take to receive images after the shoot?
For Headshots you will leave the shoot with a DVD of your images. From there, you will select the ones you wanted edited and indicate those choices to Joshua. Once you’ve sent him your selections, you should receive your edited images within 1-2 weeks.
For engagement shoots, after we shoot the engagement session we plan to view the images 2 weeks after the shoot. This usually takes place at my studio in Chicago. This is where we will select the images and I usually place the order immediately afterwards.
2 weeks after the wedding, we will release a highlight preview of your wedding on our blog which you can link to all your friends and family. An online gallery with the full set of wedding images will be available in 4 weeks.
Do you give out the high resolution images?
I do allow all my clients to purchase the digital negatives for any shoot. For weddings, we give clients their digital negatives as their 1-year anniversary gift. We also have an incentive program for clients to obtain their digital negatives before their anniversary.
Headshot clients receive the digital negatives the day of the shoot.
Do you keep the copyright to images?
Copyrights are given to the creator of the image. If I take the image I will always retain copyrights. I do, however, give releases to clients that purchase the Digital Negatives. This will allow the client to make as many reprints without compensation to my studio.
How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
We recommend that you book your wedding photographer as soon as you have made a decision as to whom you would like to have cover your event. We book weddings on a first come, first served basis. Your wedding or event date is secured by paying us a deposit and completing a signed contract. We do not ‘pencil in’ dates for wedding photography. A deposit of 1/3 of your package choice is required to hold your date.
